My Story

My Father

In 1993, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease as he started to show signs of tremors, after surgery from slip disc. The consumption of medication throughout made his body weaker. Public hospitals meant long waiting lines, and medical expenses from private hospitals for my dad were just plain expensive. He suffered a long-standing Parkinson’s Disease for 21 years! The second blow in his
life was hit by Nose Cancer (NPC) in the year 2010. My 6-footer dad went from a bodyweight of 90kg
plus to a weight of slightly lesser than 50kg within an extremely short span of time! It was a heartache
to see Dad become in such a state.

My Brother

My baby brother was born a Down’s syndrome in 1994, and neither of them was covered by medical
insurance.

As the eldest of my six siblings, I took on the responsibility of ensuring all of my family was covered by
insurance should the unexpected happen. My fear of blood had halted my thoughts of becoming a doctor and therefore in June 2010, I made the tough decision to venture into the hugely rewarding and rapidly changing insurance industry. My decision was not only personal, it was also driven by my desire to help other families.

2007, my brother King, unexpectedly suffered a collapsed lung, a condition that is known as HaemoPneumoThorax, and was in CCU for 2 full weeks. This incident got me thinking about money and how we can safeguard and grow our monies.

2013, Joseph, my second brother contracted Tuberculosis (TB) which required medication. It took
him one full year to be completely recovered.

In 2015, three brothers one after another contracted dengue. The next person in the family to be hospitalized is my Mom, in 2016, also due to dengue.

This time, without insurance, this would have placed another financial burden on our family.

We never know when we will need it, but we do know that we will need it. Saving for the future, saving
for the unexpected, and saving for our family is only the first part of the equation. Protecting those savings is paramount, safeguarding them to ensure a stress-free future for you and your loved ones is vital.

Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.

My husband and I only thought of writing our will one evening when we learned that he would be posted overseas. Once we got in touch with Wan Chin (Elizabeth), she made sure getting our affairs in order was not only our priority but hers as well. She was efficient, made simplified for us, strong follow up & transparent. We got our wills done without hassle and efficiently.

Writing a will is important, and doing it with someone who genuinely cares for your welfare makes it a relief!

Elizabeth was very prompt in her response to my requests and asked me a lot of questions about areas of my estate that I didn’t even think of. She really did go above and beyond to ensure I had a complete Will that really met my requirements.

I was introduced to Elizabeth years ago through a friend. She had very much opened up my eyes and helped to manage my far future. Her knowledge and passion in this field is very encouraging. I haven’t known much about Will's writing until the passing of a dear Aunt. It was then I realized the importance of having it done prior to our departure, not only to ease our family members but also to avoid unnecessary disputes A kind hearted and a helpful person, Elizabeth walked me through every step – the priorities, people, and things to consider in Will writing. Even having to meet a couple of times, she had made it easy to ensure I truly understand and that my needs are met.
